Biography:
Lansco Corporation 1974-1994. Lansco was the first real estate advisory firm in NY that only represented Tenants, not Landlords. This is where I learned the importance of avoiding the conflict of interest when real estate brokers represent both landlords and tenants.
Joseph Hilton Associates 1994-1996. I joined Joseph Hilton Associates because they offered a more sophisticated approach of real estate advisory services. Unfortunately for a variety of challenges it closed its doors in 1996.
Colliers ABR 1996-2010. I joined Colliers ABR in part because they were members of an international network of real estate advisory firms. This gave me the advantage of expanding the geography of where I could service my customers.
Cassidy Turley 2010-2015. Cassidy Turley was created when seven real estate firms (including Colliers ABR) who were members of the Colliers network decided to leave and form a new national real estate advisory firm with the ability to create its own menu of services with its own identity rather than be part of an amorphous network.
Cushman and Wakefield 2015-2020. In 2015 the global private equity firm, TPG, acquired Cassidy Turley and merged it with Cushman and Wakefield which it had also acquired in a transaction valued at $4 billion. Although Cushman and Wakefield represents landlords as well as tenants, my focus remained as a strictly tenant advocate and advisor. Being associated with Cushman and Wakefield gave me the name recognition of a global powerhouse with a huge menu of services, advisory as well as consultative, which I could add to my toolbox to better service my customers.
HLK Advisors LLC 2020-present. In 2020 I decided to form my own boutique real estate advisory firm so that I could be more selective in the kinds of companies I choose to represent without the external pressure and rigid structure of being part of a global firm. Currently I am representing a number of companies in New York and around the country providing tailored real estate solutions with their best interests in mind. When doing transactions outside of New York I partner local brokers with whom I have known and worked with and who are experts in each respective market.
